Welcome to the next video in our Windmills Video Series examining issues that affect every Windmills homeowner.

Our theme is simple:

Is this Common Sense or Nonsense?

My name is Caryns and I represent a typical Windmills homeowner who has concerns about decisions our Board has made.

Perhaps you've had some of the same concerns.

Today's topic is:

Status Quo or Reform?

Every community has a choice.

Continue doing things the way they've always been done.

Or look for ways to improve.

Let's consider a few examples.

Our recent survey revealed something interesting.

Several younger residents expressed a desire for more activities and a place to gather with friends.

One child simply said they wanted a place to "hang out."

That made me think.

Windmills already has a clubhouse.

We pay to maintain it.

We pay to insure it.

We pay to clean it.

So why is it closed most of the time?

Shouldn't homeowners be discussing how to make better use of an amenity they're already paying for?

Here's another question.

How do homeowners stay informed?

Many communities have websites.

Many communities have newsletters.

Many communities have homeowner committees.

These are common tools used to share information, gather feedback, and encourage participation.

So why doesn't Windmills have them?

And if these ideas have been proposed in the past, why were they rejected?

Were homeowners asked what they wanted?

Was there a discussion?

Was there a vote?

Or were decisions simply made for us?

That leads to a bigger question.

How can anyone represent homeowners if they don't know what homeowners want?

Have homeowners been surveyed about priorities?

About activities?

About security?

About communication?

About the clubhouse?

About community events?

About anything?

Perhaps some homeowners are perfectly happy with the status quo.

Perhaps others would like to see change.

I don't know.

But I do know this:

The only way to know what homeowners want is to ask them.

That's how representative government is supposed to work.

So here's my question.

Should Windmills continue with the status quo?

Or should we explore reforms that improve communication, participation, transparency, and community?

Is this Common Sense or Nonsense?

The purpose of this video isn't to tell you what to think.

It's to encourage homeowners to ask questions, share ideas, and become involved.

After all, it's our community.

And it's our money.

Thank you for watching.
