Welcome to the first in our Windmills Video Series examining issues that affect every Windmills homeowner.

Our question is simple: Is this Common Sense or Nonsense?

My name is Caryns and I represent a typical Windmills homeowner who has concerns about decisions our Board has made.

Perhaps you've had some of the same concerns.

After all, we’re paying about $155 per month in HOA fees. That's nearly $2,000 per year.

And we’d like to know how our money is being spent.

Today's topic is Security.

When most homeowners hear the word security, they think about protecting people, homes, vehicles, and property. Is this something I’d pay for? Absolutely, given the incidents I’ve heard about. Windmills needs security.

But what exactly is Windmills purchasing?

According to the DeVoy contract, their service includes:

Provide 1 guard to perform nightly driving patrols of entire neighborhood. Check for parking violations and cite vehicles. Provide 24/7 on call service for residence or clubhouse alarms.

The contract also states that Windmills pays: "$180.00 per day"

Now let's think about that.

Windmills spends approximately $65,000 per year or $5,500 per month. What do we get for it?

Dr. Mike’s June 2026 newsletter indicated Security summary for the month of May included the issuance of 51 tickets for parking violations, 2 security Calls, 13 open garage doors open and one open vehicle door.

So here's my concern. Does this sound like security to you, or parking enforcement. And if it is parking inforcement, why at night?

I'm not criticizing DeVoy.

They appear to be providing services exactly as the contract requires.

My question is different.

Is this the service homeowners want? Is this the service homeowners need?

And if this were truly about security, are three nightly patrols the best option. A recent survey rated nightly patrols at 2 out of 10 and neighborhood watch plus cameras at 10 out of 10 in effectiveness. So are patrols the best use of approximately $65,000 per year?

Are nightly patrols Common Sense or Nonsense? It’s your money, you should be part of the decision.

The purpose of this video isn't to tell you what to think.

It's to encourage you to review the facts, ask questions, and participate in the conversation.

After all, it's our community.

And it's our money.

Thank you for watching.
